From simple beginnings with a single, octagonal stone house, the resort has grown into an eco-friendly beach retreat of 21 houses spread over 25 acres. The 100 years old wooden cottages have been rescued from probable destruction elsewhere and reconstructed here in the ancient style, whilst incorporating modern conveniences. Dotted down this hilly site overlooking the Arabian Sea, each cottage has wonderful views.
Wood is the dominant feature of the interiors, in rich, glowing tones, polished with age. Antique sculptures and ornaments, wall hangings showing local life and wide shuttered windows offer warmth and comfort.
The remarkable reception area and wide stone steps leading through the sandy garden greets you with an impressive line up of 21 ancient carved granite lions, ‘rescued’ from Tamil temples. More sculptures delight, both above and under water at the infinity edged swimming pool, which is carved out of the natural rock.
There are so many ways to relax, from hammocks to garden loungers, poolside or beach; or seek solitude on your own veranda and listen to the waves crashing below.
The resort’s Ayurveda and Wellness Spa has an excellent reputation and yoga experts are on hand for group or private instruction.
