Nanda and Latika Rana bring the experience of twenty years study of tigers and conservation projects in India to the managing of this Lodge in the central Indian highlands. Singinawa is a Sherpa word meaning ‘protectors of the sacred forest’, which aptly describes them. They work closely with the local communities on conservation, protection and social development to ensure respect for the land and its inhabitants, two and four legged.
Newly opened in the autumn of 2007 on 55 acres, the stone- built main lodge sits proudly in its forested setting. An inviting ‘clubby’ lounging area with sofas and arm chairs is arranged on the upper floor giving you wonderful views over the surrounding country. The 12 individual cottages offer very comfortable, spacious, air conditioned accommodation.
Excellent packages offered include jeep safaris (seating parties of 4), elephant ride and bird walks accompanied by a naturalist, together with all meals. Multi-national cuisine of excellent quality is served in several locations and some will be pleased to know there is also a well-stocked bar.
For relaxation there is a swimming pool, visits to local villages and markets, talks with the resident naturalists and an impressive library of books and videos as you might expect in the home of such experts.
Nanda Rana, who has made films for the BBC and Discovery Channels, was appointed special consultant by National Geographic for the Year of the Tiger and his wife, Latika, a wild life biologist, has a doctorate on tiger conservation and management from Oxford University. If you are serious about seeing and learning about tigers before man has caused their extinction there can be no better place.

The main building has the air of a hunting lodge (although it is important to understand that many conservationists are from a background of former hunters)
