As the Amarvilas is located just 600m from the Taj Mahal, all the rooms have been designed to glory in this breathtakingly beautiful monument. Inspired by a similar Moorish and Moghal architecture, the hotel delights the eye with its wealth of detail, terraced lawns, reflection pools and fountains. The entrance façade leads you over water into the immense domed lobby, dominated by a magnificent chandelier. Leading onwards to the marble staircase and pillars, it is difficult not imagine oneself as the King & Queen. Yet for all its grandeur, the result is not overwhelming nor uncomfortable.

Despite its 64 rooms, Amarvilas has the tranquil ambience and style of any boutique hotel. The importance of environmental issues and history were of great debate in building this hotel so close to one of the great Wonders of the World and as such architects, builders, designers and politicians had the luxury of 18 years to create this masterpiece which opened in 2001. In keeping with any royal, each guest leaving the hotel is also transported to the Taj Mahal by eco-friendly electric buggies.

Without doubt, Amarvillas is THE hotel to stay at in Agra and in fear of repeating the management brochure, we have stayed and there is only one word for it- gorgeous!
