The 21st century answer to modern houseboats! Owned by the famous Malabar hotel group, Discovery has been designed with your perfect holiday in mind.
All the home comforts of easy sunbathing, excellent views, and spacious living conditions have been a priority when designing this houseboat.
Design is best admired through our photographs so let us focus on the living space. The top deck is very open with plenty of sunbathing area or for the romantics, alfresco dining.
For those who favour the shade, there is a canopy. Or step down into the spacious lounge with breezy louvred windows. The interiors are very modern with glass lights and Bali furniture. There is one double bedroom and the lounge day beds are over-flowing with cushions for lazy days or double-up as day beds for children or an extra couple. However we feel Discovery is best enjoyed a deux.
The staff do rise early and prepare breakfast so do tell them if you would like a lie-in as it's hard to contain the noise (honeymooners beware!). However, we recommend you make the most of this open water time zone and capture the locals preparing for school, fishermen casting nets and kingfishers taking their daily shower.
3 days cruises will include exploration of the lakes, canals, cultural dance shows, temples, markets and if you time your holiday for mid September, you can enjoy front row viewing of the national snake boat race. Our recommendation is to just relax, take a good book and a camera to capture local life and birdlife.
If the back waters appeal, this experience is an ideal combination with sister lake house, Privacy.
| Highs |
Lows |
- Houseboats with mod cons
- Excellent service standards
- Superb cuisine from your personal chef with the most romantic alfresco dining spot.
- The most relaxing experience and real insight to local life.
|
- Perhaps a little strange if you are wishing to absorb the traditional riceboat atmosphere but only strange to those looking in rather than your super views out.
- 1-2 days on the lakes is sufficient if you have itchy feet and struggle to unwind in this confined area.
