For people watching there is nowhere more peaceful than Casa Britona’s deck, overhanging the Mendova River. Settle down with a sundowner and watch the local world wind down for the day.
This converted warehouse offers 8 rooms on two floors, each with its own ensuite bathroom and doors onto a pleasant veranda. Good natural light is lacking but the use of embroidered, white linens and fine muslin drapes helps to brighten the rooms.
Dining is a time for variety and experiment. Breakfast is included and lunch and dinner prepared by arrangement. Local dishes, Spanish omelettes, Thai curry, Tandoori dishes and many more can all be prepared by the resident chef. Discuss your choice at breakfast and staff will shop for the best ingredients that day.
The attractive freeform swimming pool overlooks the river and is a great place to relax. The river may tempt you to try your hand at fishing or take an exploratory trip on one of the villa’s boats.
Just along the road are a further 2 studio apartments, sleeping 4, which have kitchen facilities but guests are welcome at the main villa to eat, relax or swim.
Beaches are a 20 min drive away, but you are nearer the heritage sites at Panjim and Old Goa. Baroque churches, the splendid cathedral (depending on your view of such concentration of gold), bustling markets and the rather dusty colonial buildings offer an interesting visit.

Riverside location requires constant awareness of mosquitoes, particularly in the evenings.
Beaches of north Goa are 20 mins drive away and rather busy and commercialised (beaches south of the river are much more attractive)
